BRANDON — A three-vehicle crash on Nov. 27 near the intersection of S. Kings Avenue and Oakfield Drive left one motorist in critical condition, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Reports state that HCSO deputies responded to the accident at 11:57 p.m. Investigators determined that the suspect, 22-year-old Alexander Glaubius, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado southbound on S. Kings Avenue at a high rate of speed approaching a red light. Another motorist, driving a Volkswagen Passat, was traveling east on Oakfield Drive and making a left turn on a green arrow to go north on S. Kings Avenue. A third motorist, driving a Mazda Mazdaspeed 3, was traveling west on Oakfield Drive, making a left turn on a green arrow to go south onto S. Kings Avenue.

As both the Volkswagen and the Mazda entered the intersection, reports state Glaubius ran the red light and struck the Volkswagen. The Volkswagen rotated and the driver was ejected from the car. Reports state the victim remains in critical condition at this time.

After the initial crash, Glaubius continued driving southbound when he struck the Mazad, as well, reports state. The driver of the Mazda did not report any injuries.

Glaubius was transported to an area hospital and reports state impairment and speed are believed to be factors in the crash. Charges related to the accident are pending further investigation.
